After months and months of writing my manuscript from my female protagonist point of view, I’ve decided to switch things up a bit. The book is undergoing editing and isn’t ready yet.

It’s an erotic urban fantasy that takes the story of Cinderella and puts a Gothic spin on it. I wrote it after a very odd dream. Ian Somerhalder as L.J. Smith’s Vampire Diaries character Damon Salvatore was administering all sorts of kinkery that you’d expect from Tiffany Reisz’s character Søren. It taught me not to eat pepperoni late at night.

Although, I suppose it’s not that strange. If you read my blog you’ve probably noticed I’m a huge fan of Tiffany’s writing. I think I fell in love with the Original Sinners series because I’m very bad at being Catholic. Since I read her books I’ve been combing all the local rectories for a sexy Scandinavian Dom of my own but without any luck.

With prospects looking slim, I figured I’d just write my own sexy vampire Dom. However, true to urban fantasy form, the book is written in first person from Holly’s perspective. She’s the 22-year-old heroine—a product of Chicago’s foster care system and an army satchel toting tomboy. Unfortunately, Holly shares similarities to an evil force which thrusts her into chaos that terrorizes the city and threatens to expose the underground vampire race.

Arie Cush is our unlikely prince charming, an ancient vampire and Chief Justice of the Council of Sanguis. He notices Holly who works as a barista. And he’s conflicted when he realizes just how much Holly Ellis is like his jealous ex-girlfriend, a gypsy woman he turned in the 1500s.

He serves the notorious Tessa Green, a vampire and the dominatrix queen of Chicago’s infamous Hellfire Club. HFC is where vampires and the supernatural come to play in a world hidden from humankind. The ever increasing threat forces Tessa to take desperate measures and use Holly as bait at the annual Kindred Spirits of Darkness Gala.

Will their underground world be exposed? Can Arie overcome his tortured past? And will Holly make it out this alive?

Well you’ll just have to wait until the book is released to find out. I’m a tease like that.

But a recent e-mail from a fan that can’t wait to read the book made me feel awful about having everyone wait for its release. And a short story I just read about suit shopping inspired me to start writing a short story of my own. Since I’ve spent months writing from a female perspective and since I don’t have a penis, I thought it would be fun to have something from Arie’s point of view.

I will be releasing the short story in the coming weeks as an e-book. If you would like a pre-release copy of the paranormal erotica short story for freeplease e-mail me at authoracjames(at)gmail(dot)com. When the short story is complete, I will send you a copy.

What’s the catch? Well I want to know what you think of it. To be eligible for this giveaway you must have a valid Amazon account that you’ve used to purchase at least one item. After reading the short story, leave a review on Amazon once it’s released.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
